Baha'i Temple Ceiling Nightlight Cover
Photo of the Baha'i Temple Ceiling

Photograph of the Greatest Name at the top of the interior of the Baha'i House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois by Sean M. Scully

Bring a little piece of the North American Baha'i temple into your home with this lithophane nightlight switch cover.

Baha'i temples are not only for Baha'is to enjoy. They provide a place of tranquility and unity for all. Now you can bring a little piece of the North American Baha'i temple into your home with this beautiful lithophane nightlight switch cover.

This nightlight cover is a relief of the Baha'i Greatest Name symbol featured on the ceiling of the Baha'i temple in Wilmette, Illinois.

Because of the unique nature of 3D printed lithophanes, you can now experience the architecture of the Baha'i temple in stunningly realistic 3D giving you a better sense of how it looks in person. Much like how the design in the Baha'i temple is illuminated by the sun during the day, this design is illuminated at night when you turn the nightlight on!

Usage

Place this cover over a nightlight to see the image shine through! This piece makes a great home decoration and conversation starter.

This design works with most nightlights, but it may not work with all models. For these photos, I went to the grocery store across the street and bought a nightlight.

How I Designed This

I used Photoshop to convert the photograph to grayscale and increase contrast. Then I used an online tool called Lithophane Maker to convert it to a lithophane. The nightlight cover template was provided by Lithophane Maker.

Printing Notes

The print featured in the photos was printed in Paramount3D Karnak Sandstone PLA GBRL10197530S using the model labeled “bahai-greatest-name-nightlight-dark-filament.stl”

This wobbled quite a bit on my printer, causing some z-axis banding. While this design shouldn't need extra adhesion to print, it may provide some additional stability to improve the quality of the final print.

Print at 100% infill.
