“Every day, ere the hour of dawn, the gardeners would pick the roses which lined the four avenues of the garden, and would pile them in the center of the floor of His blessed tent. So great would be the heap that when His companions gathered to drink their morning tea in His presence, they would be unable to see each other across it." — Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By

Growing up as a Baha'i, one of my favorite stories was about the roses in the Garden of Ridvan. Ridvan means "paradise" in Persian. It's named for the Garden of Ridván outside of Baghdad, where the Baha'i prophet Baháʼu'lláh stayed for twelve days after the Ottoman Empire sent him into exile.

Ridvan is the holiest Bahá'í festival because it commemorates the very beginning of our faith. Baha'u'llah declared his mission as the Promised One of the Baha'i Faith in the Garden of Ridvan, a garden full of roses.

To celebrate the Baha'i Festival of Ridvan, I designed this jewelry box so that people can keep their Baha'i rings and jewelry in a Baha'i themed box. The rosettes are a reminder of the story of Ridvan that Shoghi Effendi tells in God Passes By of roses piled so high that they couldn't see across it. The nine pointed star is the symbol of the Baha'i faith.

The Ridvan Box measures approximately 95mm when printed.
